Sander is gefascineerd door het materiaal en de handeling. Onverstoorbaar brengt hij lagen verf over elkaar aan en is hierbij beperkt door de tijd (de verf moet tussentijds drogen) en de vorm die de verf aanneemt. De verf volgt de handeling en de verfroller waarmee het wordt aangebracht. Heel organisch ontstaan ogenschijnlijk monochrome composities die van dichtbij hun rijke kleurschakering prijsgeven, want onder de bovenste laag blijken nog talloze kleuren te zitten, deels zichtbaar vanwege de gaten die de verfroller op het doek heeft opengelaten. Ook de structuur van het doek is geheel autonoom ontstaan door het eindeloos herhalen van de handeling. Tekst door: Jochem Rotteveel

Unperturbed, he applies layers of paint on top of each other and is limited by the time (the paint must dry in between) and the shape the paint takes. The paint follows the action and the paint roller with which it is applied. Apparently monochrome compositions are created very organically, which reveal their rich color range up close, because there appear to be countless colors beneath the top layer, partly visible because of the holes left open by the paint roller on the canvas. The structure of the canvas was also created completely autonomously by endlessly repeating the action.
